Option Alef – 4-Month Program

Ideal for: Families desiring a brief, non-traditional learning experience.

  • Includes:
    • Four 60-minute lessons with Judaics tutor Edva Kashi.
    • Study of Torah portion based on student’s birth date.
    • Email/text/phone support between lessons.
    • Review of student’s speech prior to the ceremony.
    • Optional 30-minute ceremony prep session.

Fee: $1,500 (due in full before learning begins).kehillahrva.org

Option Bet – 8-Month Program

Ideal for: Families seeking a meaningful experience with a Torah reading, without a year-long commitment.

  • Includes:
    • Eight 60-minute lessons with Edva covering Tanakh, Jewish history, calendar, and values.
    • Study of Torah portion of the student’s choice.
    • Email/text/phone support between lessons.
    • Review of student’s speech prior to the ceremony.
    • Optional 30-minute ceremony prep session.
    • Eight 60-minute lessons with Rabbi Patrick, including learning important prayers in Hebrew using transliteration.
    • Ceremony using Kehillah B’nai Mitzvah Siddur, with a two-sentence Torah reading and a service primarily in Hebrew with English translations.
    • Family must print copies of the siddur for the ceremony.

    • Study of Torah portion of the student’s choice.
    • Special topics in contemporary Judaism based on student’s interests.
    • Email/text/phone support between lessons.
    • Review of student’s speech prior to the ceremony.
    • Optional 30-minute ceremony prep session.
    • Eight 60-minute lessons with Rabbi Patrick, including personalized choice of readings, prayers, and order of service.
    • Ceremony using a personalized version of the Kehillah B’nai Mitzvah Siddur, including up to a four-sentence Torah reading.
    • Customized siddur can include personal photos, family quotes, and other meaningful content.
    • Family must print copies of the siddur for the ceremony.
